Download for Good: Music That Changes the World<\/a><\/em>, a unique compilation album featuring music spanning across genres and generations, was released this week. The list of participating musicians is staggering, including such artists as Tom Waits<\/a>, Iggy Pop<\/a>, Peter Gabriel<\/a>, Ben Lee<\/a>, Donovan<\/a>, Amanda Palmer<\/a>, and Moby<\/a>, among many others. The 33-track album is now available exclusively on iTunes<\/a>.<\/p>\n

All proceeds from downloads of this album go directly to the David Lynch Foundation<\/a>, a non-profit organization which brings the Transcendental Meditation<\/a> technique to underserved populations, including at-risk inner-city youth and veterans returning home from combat with post-traumatic stress disorder, as well as Native Americans, homeless adults and children, prisoners, and others in desperate need of relief from acute stress.<\/p>\n

<\/a>“The artists who have shared their music are spreading happiness,” David Lynch<\/a> said, when announcing the iTunes<\/a> launch. “With their music alone they’re supporting programs that take away suffering and bring bliss to many people.”<\/p>\n

Whitney Mathesen who writes \u201cPop Candy\u201d for the national publication, USA Today<\/a> wrote, \u201cI’m used to praising David Lynch for his filmmaking — but who knew the man had such excellent taste in music?\u201d<\/p>\n

Jenny Charlesworth in her column<\/a> on the popular online music site, Spinner<\/a>, put it this way, \u201cIf anyone can change the world it’s David Lynch.\u201d<\/p>\n
