Millions of people of all ages, religions, and nationalities have learned the Transcendental Meditation technique over the past more than 50 years. Each person has been taught to meditate through a personalized course of instruction by specially qualified teachers. Each teacher has completed an intensive advanced course of instruction, lasting up to six months, in residence.
Maharishi trained more than 40,000 people to teach the TM technique; many of them attended training courses in the early 1970s.
From 1970 through 1973 in the United States, Maharishi held several courses with many thousands of participants at Humboldt State College in northern California, and at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst. The course schedules allowed ample time for participants to ask Maharishi questions about anything and everything: from the deep mechanics of meditation and the nature of higher states of consciousness to the role of art and science in society and the value of meditation in relationships.
In the above short video clip, Maharishi talks about how meditation enhances, and ultimately brings to fulfillment, relationships. Maharishi says:
“If the individual has fully developed potential he’ll enjoy friendships, relationships, and marriage to the fullest extent. … Therefore the key to relationships is to take care of our own Self. We meditate and then our potentiality is being used more and more through practice, and then a time will come when we are using our full potential and we have a fully developed heart and mind, and with a fully developed heart and mind all relationships will be enjoyed just because we are able to give maximum of ourselves to others.”
