Changing Lives & Transforming Education

“The anxiety that sometimes kids get about studying and about grades and about making deadlines, they can become overwhelmed, and then they actually short circuit themselves…Having [Transcendental] meditation will give them the tools to approach the pressures that they’re facing and make better choices for themselves.” — Sue Tiller, Sacred Heart Staff

At the Sacred Heart School in Lake Worth, FL the “Quiet Time” program is giving the sixth-grade students the extra edge they need to succeed!

The program is a practical, evidence-based approach to reduce stress and dramatically improve academic performance, student wellness, and the school environment. “Quiet Time” at schools around the world provides students with two 15-minute periods of Transcendental Meditation practice each day to help balance their lives and improve their readiness to learn. This program complements existing educational strategies by improving the physiological underpinnings of learning and behavior.

The Technique: The Transcendental Meditation technique is a simple, natural, effortless technique practiced 20 minutes twice each day while sitting comfortably with the eyes closed. It is easy to learn and enjoyable to practice, and is not a religion, philosophy, or lifestyle. Over six million people have learned it — people of all ages, cultures, and religions — and over 380 published research studies have found that the TM technique markedly reduces stress, anxiety, and fatigue, and promotes balanced functioning of mind and body.
